Frisco, Copper Mountain Colorado and Thanksgiving n the Rockies

November 24, 2006

Skied the last two days at Copper Mountain in Summit County Colorado. Each day the terrain and snow was plentiful for November. A nice mix of groomers and bumps gave the us a full day of skiing. There were morning crowds at the American Flyer chair out of the base area. We found that skiing and riding off the Super B chair ensured virtually no of very small lift lines.
Here we also found a more interesting mix of terrain and conditions that were not as hard and scratchy as the center of the mountain. Each day new runs were opened offering more diversity. It was fairly busy and we skied Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day before the holiday crowds. Staying in Frisco we rented a 4 bedroom townhouse from Big Horn Rentals. It was located walking distance from downtown off 5th Street. The pool and clubhouse facility was clean and included three outdoor hot tubs, once indoor with a heated pool and sauna and steam room. We would gladly rent and stay at this unit again.

One new discovery in town was the Frisco Internet Cafe. This service I find as a necessity on many trips. The service is located adjacent and inside the Frisco Lodge on main street. At $6 an hour the connection - high speed wifi - and friendly atmosphere made this an easy to use and access stop on 2 days of my trip.

Not to be forgotten is the morning, or anytime, stop at the Butterhorn Cafe across the street from the Frisco Lodge on Main Street. This cafe has been here for almost 20 years and has wonderful baked goods, breads with a sumptuous breakfast menu.Sandwiches and more are available or lunch. This is and has continued to be one of my favorite stops in the AM or after and wanted a cup of coffee and an afternoon baked good.
