With over a foot of new snow in 24 hours Sipapu Ski area in New Mexico reopens for skiing.
The Sipapu’s lift ticket office will open at 8 in the morning and lift tickets are priced at $25 for adults and teens, and $10 for kids (ages 7-12) and seniors (60-69). The surprise snowfall has, Sipapu also extending its popular Car Load Days deal, where everyone in one vehicle (limit six) skis for $50. Kids six and younger, 4th graders (with a report card), active duty military (active duty ID required), guests who are 40 years old, guests who are 60 years old and those 70 years and older receive a free lift ticket.
Another sweet attraction is targeting other areas season pass holders from partner resorts, these areas include Angel Fire Resort, Red River Ski Area, Pajarito Mountain and Ski Apache may present their 2011-2012 season passes for a free lift ticket, too. So go out and enjoy.

As we approach the last weekend before Thanksgiving the weather is giving us as much a mixed bag as ever for those of us wanting to get the winter ski and snowboard season's underway.
We will provide updates on resort openings as reports come in around the nation. I have just gone from near 80 degree weather in Boulder, Colorado to frigid temps in Boston. Nice to know winter is happening.
Reports are that snow making is going full speed and combined with natural snow in many places more and more resorts and areas will be opening for skiing and snowboarding this weekend and Thanksgiving holiday. Boy do I get more and more rumors on Twitter, emails and various social network sites we monitor and work.

Monarch Mountain is offering free lift tickets on Monday April 7, 2008 to encourage people to visit the area in central Colorado. Monarch has received record snowfall this season, more than 36 feet so far and the conditions are fantastic.
“We are a pretty low key family ski area and we feel it’s important to offer a great value to keep people coming into our sport and what’s a better value than a free lift ticket” said Rich Moorhead, CEO. “This season has been one of our best so we want to show off the mountain” added Moorhead.
Complimentary lift tickets will be available at the ticket windows starting at 8:30am. Monarch is asking for a donation of a non-perishable food item but everyone will receive a free lift ticket. The donated food will be given to The Grainery a local organization that operates a food bank.
Monarch is located in the San Isabel National Forest 20 miles west of Salida, CO. Abundant natural snow (350 + in.) and friendly people are two of the areas strongest attributes. For more information on Monarch Mountain or the free lift ticket day visit www.skimonarch.com.
